This lateau State Water Sector Law, 2019 is a comprehensive legislation designed to reform and regulate water resource management, sanitation, and service delivery across Plateau State, Nigeria. Its core objective is to guarantee citizens the right to clean, safe, and sustainable water supply, while promoting efficient use in domestic, agricultural, and industrial contexts. The Law highlights the importance of gender mainstreaming by ensuring women and vulnerable groups are actively included in policy formulation, decision-making, and project execution. The Law further provides for the creation of a Water Sector Fund to finance projects, mandates compliance with water quality standards, and empowers agencies to enforce environmental safeguards. It also establishes a dedicated Water Court for disputes related to water rights, service delivery, and environmental violations.
