This Act governs the right to receive child benefits (børnetilskud) for children under 18 who reside in Greenland, subject to residence and citizenship conditions, and specifies that the allowance belongs to the child and is paid monthly in advance, normally to the custodial parent. The benefit is universal and the amount is income-dependent, based on the most recently known taxable income, with rules for joint, single, or shared custody situations, and the municipality may adjust payments if income significantly changes. Payment is automatic without prior application, municipally administered, and may be provided in kind if needed for the child’s interests. Recipients must report relevant changes; wrongful payments must be repaid. Appeals follow the social welfare appeals system.
