This Federal Act establishes a framework to promote the production of renewable hydrogen of non-biogenic origin in Austria, defined as hydrogen produced from renewable energy excluding biomass and aligned with definitions in the Renewable Expansion Act. It requires compliance with Directive (EU) 2018/2001, related delegated acts, and EU state aid rules. The Act provides financial support for new installations converting electricity into such hydrogen through competitive auctions. Implementation is overseen by the Federal Minister for Climate Action in agreement with the Minister of Finance, who must issue detailed rules on payments, procedures, and obligations. Beneficiaries are subject to transparency requirements, and contracts are concluded following auction awards.
