California Water Plan (2023 update).

Existing law (Chapter 1 of Division 6 of the Water Code) requires the Department of Water Resources to update every five years the plan for the orderly and coordinated control, protection, conservation, development, and use of the water resources of the state, which is known as “The California Water Plan”. This Plan (Update 2023) considers diversity in California’s economy, ecosystems, cultures, and ideas not only a strength but essential to collaboratively meeting those challenges. The Plan, in tackling issues of concern such as climate change and strengthening watershed resilience, naturally reflects the priorities of the administration and Legislature current when a given update is developed. The Plan is also about continued and amplified efforts for equity in water management, stressing tribal management importance.
