The Pakistan Penal Code is a criminal law framework that defines the territorial scope of criminal liability, general principles of criminal responsibility, punishments, exceptions, and detailed classifications of offences. It covers offences against the state, public order, justice, religion, the human body, property, elections, and public administration. The Code addresses offences such as the adulteration and sale of noxious food and drugs, pollution of water sources and air, and public nuisance affecting health, as well as damage to irrigation systems, agricultural infrastructure, and rural property, including by fire or flooding. The Code also protects livestock through offences against the killing or maiming of animals and contains provisions on the spread of disease, fraudulent use of weights and measures in trade, and labour‑related offences such as forced labour and human trafficking, which may affect agricultural sectors.
