This Decree establishes the State Environmental Quality Programme. The State Programme in the has the following objectives: promote and encourage the implementation of Environmental Quality Programmes within the public bodies and enterprises of the State Government; encourage the voluntary adoption of Environmental Management Systems, in accordance with the ISO 14000 series of standards, by private companies based in the State; disseminate concepts of environmental quality, encouraging proactive approaches by public and private companies in the State in incorporating environmental considerations into the management of their projects and activities.
