The Greater Menderes Basin Water Allocation Plan has been prepared to support the sustainable and equitable allocation of water resources across the basin and its nine hydrological sub-basins. The Plan aims to balance current and future water demands while considering socio-economic conditions, development needs, and available water resources to ensure long-term water security. The Plan covers 12 sectors: drinking and utility water, environmental water, agriculture, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture, industry, mining, energy, tourism, geothermal (spa), commercial (bottled) water, and forestry. Water allocation decisions are based on sectoral priorities, water quantity requirements, and water quality needs to promote fair, efficient, and strategic use of water resources.
