Third Master Plan for the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, 2023-2027.

This policy document is the Republic of Korea’s third five‑year national basic plan for infectious disease prevention and control for 2023–2027, prepared under the legal mandate of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act. Its vision is a society in which everyone is safe from infectious diseases. The Plan has four strategies: strengthening crisis preparedness and response; implementing proactive and comprehensive prevention and control; advancing research and technological innovation; and reinforcing response infrastructure. It emphasizes evidence-based policy, health equity, public-private and international cooperation, communication and public participation. Specific measures include pathogen surveillance, emergency exercises, biosecurity, integrated information systems, predictive modelling, diagnostic technologies, vaccines and treatments, specialized hospitals and international cooperation. The One Health component coordinates human, animal and environmental sectors through information-sharing, joint zoonotic-disease surveillance and risk assessment, antimicrobial-resistance management, and surveillance of waterborne and foodborne infections.
