Fisheries Management (Miscellaneous Exploratory and Developmental Fishery) Regulations 2025.

The Fisheries Management (Miscellaneous Exploratory and Developmental Fishery) Regulations 2025 establish the Miscellaneous Exploratory and Developmental Fishery in South Australia under the Fisheries Management Act 2007. The fishery encompasses the taking of aquatic resources in State waters that are not already included within specified regulated fisheries and is declared to be a developmental fishery. The Regulations provide definitions, identify the scope of the fishery and create a framework for the administration of exploratory and developmental fishing activities, including permitting, registration and operational oversight. The Regulations authorise the Minister to issue exploratory and developmental permits subject to suitability requirements. Exploratory permits may only be granted to fit and proper individuals aged at least 15 years, while developmental permits may be granted to eligible individuals or companies whose directors satisfy fit and proper person requirements. The Minister may impose permit conditions limiting fishing activities, regulate the registration and revocation of boats, devices and masters, and approve the transfer of developmental permits subject to prescribed eligibility, compliance and administrative requirements. Exploratory permits are not transferable, whereas developmental permits may be transferred with ministerial consent. The Regulations impose obligations on permit holders to submit periodic returns, keep records and make those records available for inspection by fisheries officers.
