This Law establishes the State Programme for the Development of Artisanal Production and Organic Production Associated with Tourism (Pró-Artesão) in the State of Sergipe. The law aims to promote sustainable and integrated tourism development while encouraging artisanal and organic production, strengthening local cultural traditions, generating employment and income, and enhancing the State Government’s capacity to plan and implement policies for the sector. The programme is guided by objectives that include valuing Sergipe’s cultural identity, expanding and modernising artisanal and organic production, integrating these activities with tourism and sustainable development initiatives, supporting marketing and commercialisation opportunities, and fostering technical training, cooperativism, associativism, and social inclusion. The law defines artisanal and organic products, identifies the categories of production covered, and provides for measures to support sector development. It authorises the Executive Branch to establish certification systems based on cultural, environmental, sanitary, social, and labour standards, including sustainable production practices and the prohibition of degrading labour conditions. The legislation also allows for the creation of information systems on artisanal and organic production, facilitates cooperation with public and private institutions, and seeks to improve the visibility, recognition, and competitiveness of producers while safeguarding traditional techniques and encouraging environmentally responsible production methods.
