The present Regional Act lays down the framework relating to forestry, with a view to contributing to the protection of forests and trees. In order to attain such objectives, the Regional Council shall approve and implement a regional plan on forestry, pursuant to article 4. Article 5 concerns the ecological certification of forests, a particular system intended to certify sustainable methods of forest management. Article 10 prohibits land clearing and establishes the circumstances under which it may be authorized. Further prohibitions are laid down in article 19 in order to protect forests against fires. Article 20 contains the list of protected trees. Article 20 establishes penalties.
