The present Act lays down provisions relating to the right to fly the German flag of maritime ships and inland navigation ships. Article 1 establishes that all maritime ships owned by German citizens residing in the area included in the Fundamental Law have the right to fly the Federal German flag, whereas they do not have the right to fly flags of any other countries. Article 14 establishes that inland navigation ships have to fly the Federal German Flag as German national flag. However, they have the right to fly in addition to the Federal Flag also the flag of the respective land.
