This Act makes provision for the control of litter and the dumping of waste in public places and on private land, for the collection of waste and for the control of waste dumps. It also provides for matters related to the foregoing, defines offences and prescribes punishment for such offences. No person shall deposit any waste on any land or litter public places. The carrying on of a waste collection business requires a licence to be obtained from the Minister. The Minister is granted power to prohibit the importation or use of material that will promote littering, or will cause dangers or inconvenience in connection with the collection or disposal of waste which should be avoided in the public interest.
