This Act amends the Kerala Water Supply and Sewerage Act, 1986. Amendments include: the substitution and insertion of definitions in section 2; substitution of section 4 and insertion of new provisions in sections 14 and 15 and of a new section 15A on Authority members and Authority’s functions and powers; substitution of section 33 with a new section on meter rents; substitution of section 38 with a new section, and the insertion of new sections 38A and 38B addressing the supply of water by the Authority; insertion of new provisions to article 40 and insertion of a new section 40A making provision for public hydrants; insertion of new provisions to article 42 and insertion of a new section 42A making provision for water meters; substitution of section 43 with a new section on works relating to water connection to be done by licensed plumbers; insertion of a new section 43A on offences of license plumbers; insertion of new sections 45A, 46A,46B, 46C, 46D and 46E on prohibitions and punishments; substitution of section 47 and insertion of new sections 47A, 47B, 49A, 50A and 52A on matters regarding sewerage; and insertion of new provisions in section 60, 64 and 65 and insertion of a new section 61A on penalties and procedures.
