This Act sets out a new regulatory regime for the construction, enlargement and operation of artificial reservoirs of water in the United Kingdom. It also provides for monitoring and inspections by public authorities and measures of enforcement. It shall be the duty of each local authority to establish and maintain for their area a register showing the large raised reservoirs situated wholly or partly in the area. The Act also defines offences.
