This Act introduces a duty of every company producing oil and gas in Nigeria to submit to the Minister responsible for petroleum matters a preliminary programme for gas re-injection and a detailed plans for implementation of gas re-injection. No flaring of gas produced in association with oil may be done without the permission in writing of the Minister. The provisions of this Act shall apply to the Exclusive Zone as they apply to land as defined in section 1 of the Petroleum Act.
