The Act is enacted in order to respect animal life and protect animals. The Agricultural Committee under the Executive Yuan is nominated as the authority for animal protection. The Act consists of 40 articles and divided into 7 Chapters. Chapter 1 defines animal, economic animal, experimental animal and pets etc. Chapter 2 deals with the measures that shall be taken in order to protect animals and pets. Chapter 3 regulates the experimental activities of animal for scientific purpose. Chapter 4 concerns the pets protection. Further provisions concern the offences and legal responsibilities.
