This Regional Decree establishes that state nature complex (landscape) reserve of regional significance “Iron Gate” is constituted with a view of preserving natural complexes of karst landscapes and a unique karst ravine in the southeastern part of the White Sea-Kuloi plateau and the karst lake system of the Karas Lake in the natural state, complexes on the site of felling and burned-out forest, maintaining the ecological balance in the catchment area of the unique Karas Lake wetland system, protecting typical and unique natural communities, rare and endangered species of plants, animals, and other organisms. Owners and tenants of land plots located within the boundaries of the reserve are obliged to observe the special protection regime established in the nature reserve. On the territory of nature reserve shall be prohibited any activity contrasting the scope of nature reserve or damaging natural complexes and components, including: (a) entry, exit and parking of all motor vehicles outside, except for service vehicles; (b) felling of forest species in the area exceeding 1 ha (except for felling for forest fire extinguishment, sanitary felling and felling related to removal dead, fallen and damaged forest stand); capture and hunting of wild fauna species that are not subject to hunting; (c) destruction and damaging mating and nesting grounds of wild fauna species, collection of eggs; (d) construction of buildings, facilities, roads and pipelines, power lines and other communications, with the exception of facilities ensuring operation of the reserve; (e) land reclamation; (f) the use of outboard engines operating on fuel derived from petroleum products except for service small-size vessels; (g) application of chemicals, mineral fertilizers, plant protection means and nutrients; (h) spring hunting except for hunting for the purpose of regulating the number of game; (i) release of alien species; (j) waste disposal; (k) exploration of subsoil and mining; (l) ploughing up of the territory; and (m) destruction or damaging warning signs and information boards.
