This Resolution approves the Strategy for Agro-silvopastoral and Environmental Development in the Maio Island. This Strategy, consisting of twelve Sections, elaborates a planning strategy for the agro-silvopastoral system and the environmental sector on the island of Maio, in a participatory manner, based on its specificity, its endogenous potentialities and comparative advantages, aiming at its economic and social development. Its General Objective is to establish a short-, medium- and long-term strategy to create the capacity needed to produce inclusive socio-economic data to increase the income and well-being of the population of the island of Maio. Its Specific Objectives are: to improve the current state of the agro-forestry and environmental system of the island, in order to meet its needs, in the field of agricultural, silvopastoral and environmental production; to sustainably improve productivity, quality of production, transformation and market, through strategies for creating and disseminating opportunities in order to promote the local economy. The specific analyses of local development, with social, environmental and economic impacts, allowed to define eight strategic axes for the agro-silvopastoral and environmental development of the island of Maio: i) Silvopastoralism; ii) Livestock; iii) Agriculture; iv) Water resources; v) Environment and Tourism; vi) Food and Nutrition Security; vii) Promotion of Economic Activities; viii) Promotion of the Extractive Industry. For each of the eight strategic axes, the objectives, the respective components, the challenges and the main actions are presented. The solutions to respond to each of the challenges are summarized in the Master Plan matrix.
