Lake “Genkude” shall be classified as protected area. It shall perform the following functions: (a) conservation of unique landscape; (b) reproduction and replacement, and also rational and regulated management of fishery resources and other biological resources; and (c) ecological monitoring and propaganda of nature protection. Water reserves of lake “Genkude” shall be conceded primarily for meeting the demand of the population for potable water and household needs. Water shall be supplied in accordance with special authorization (license). Use of aquatic and biological resources shall require payment of fee and shall be authorized within established limits (quotas). By agreement with the authorized regional state body in the sphere of environmental protection shall be authorized the following activities: (a) limited collection of wild growing medicinal plants, berries and mushrooms; (b) grazing of horses, cattle and haymaking; (c) scientific and educational tourism; (d) hydro amelioration, irrigation, dredging aimed at improvement water and oxygen regime of the lake, performed in the presence of scientific substantiation; and (e) monitoring of water quality and biological diversity by specialized bodies. The following activities shall be prohibited: (a) discharge of domestic and non-domestic waste; (b) navigation on motorboats and motor transport; (c) water logging; (d) water abstraction without fish protection devices; and (e) construction and placement of waterworks.
