Resolution No. 44/2023 approving the Energy Efficiency Strategy.

The Energy Efficiency Strategy (EEE) aims to support the implementation of concrete measures that lead to a more efficient use of energy, through the establishment of an effective regulatory framework, helping the Ministry that oversees the energy sector to guide activities of energy efficiency. The EEE will significantly contribute to creating a favourable environment for private investments in energy efficiency and will stimulate industrial development and employment through reduced energy costs. The strategy defines energy efficiency actions with measurable objectives and a set of regulations to face the challenge of efficient use of the country's energy resources. Together with energy access policies, it will constitute a comprehensive strategy and a set of recommendations to achieve Sustainable Development Goal No. 7 (SDG-7) of the 2030 Agenda of universal access to electricity by 2030. This Energy Efficiency Strategy is aimed to diverse target groups in the public and private sector, essentially covering the following areas: Industry and Commerce, Mineral Resources and Energy, Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, public and social infrastructures, among others. To achieve these objectives, the country needs to increase not only the rate of access to energy through the development of new supply capacities, but also through the promotion of Energy Efficiency (EE) policies and practices, such as energy labelling and Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), etc.
