This Decree creates the Aquilomba Tocantins Programme and its Management Committee, within the scope of the Direct and Indirect Administration of the State Executive Branch, under the coordination of the Secretariat for Traditional Communities, with the aim of promoting intersectoral measures to guarantee the rights of the quilombola population in the State of Tocantins. The Programme can be participated in by State executive bodies and entities that are responsible for carrying out actions aimed at improving living conditions and increasing access to public goods and services for the quilombola population. The objectives of the Programme are: guarantee management of quilombola territories, with reference to the National Quilombola Territorial and Environmental Management Policy (PNGTAQ); promote food and nutritional security and sovereignty for the quilombola population, especially through specific programmes to promote quilombola family farming and productive inclusion; guarantee the development of a rural agro-industry, through access to technical assistance and agro-ecological rural extension, appropriate technologies and credit policies, with respect for the specificities of each territory, production systems and local knowledge; strengthening Quilombola school education by respecting the specificities and valuing the traditional and ancestral knowledge of this population; promoting the participation of the Quilombola population in the formulation of public education policies and pedagogical planning; guaranteeing access and permanence for Quilombola students in higher education; guaranteeing access to quality physical, mental and comprehensive health care for the Quilombola population, etc.
