A Forest Bioeconomy Framework for Canada.

This policy, developed by the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers, outlines a vision for Canada to increase efficiency in using forest biomass for advanced bioproducts and innovative solutions. It aims to stimulate economic activity by converting sustainably managed renewable forest resources into value-added products and services. The framework is built on four pillars: Communities and Relationships, Supply of Forest Resources and Advanced Bioproducts, Demand for Advanced Forest Bioproducts and Services, and Support for Innovation. Key objectives include advancing green employment, promoting partnerships with Indigenous peoples, establishing effective standards, enhancing data collection and management, coordinating outreach and marketing, supporting bioeconomy procurement programs, developing effective regulations, facilitating an innovation ecosystem, supporting research and development, and developing innovative financial mechanisms. The framework seeks to increase forest biomass use in Canada's economy, leading to new investments, job creation, enhanced engagement with Indigenous peoples, new technologies, and greater awareness of forests' role in the Canadian economy. It also aims to support Canada's climate change mitigation efforts and transition to a low-carbon economy. Progress will be measured across five areas: significance of the forest bioeconomy in the Canadian economy, support for forest bioeconomy science, support for the forest bioeconomy, valuation of ecosystem goods and services, and impact of the forest bioeconomy
