Resolution GFCM/47/2024/5 on a voluntary-based data exchange format and protocol in relation to the vessel monitoring system in the context of voluntary-based international joint inspection schemes in the GFCM area of application.

This Resolution requires each flag contracting party and cooperating non-contracting party (CPC) to implement a vessel monitoring system (VMS) for its fishing vessels over 15 m targeting species managed under GFCM management plans and covered by a voluntary-based international joint inspection scheme. Annex 1 sets out the specifications and schedule that the autonomous system referred to in paragraph 5 a) of Recommendation GFCM/33/2009/7 should comply with. Each CPC participating in a voluntary-based international joint inspection scheme may communicate electronically to the GFCM Secretariat the VMS data in line with Annex 2 or Annex 3.
