The ICCAT established a Standing Working Group for Dialogue Between Fisheries Scientists and Managers (SWGSM) to strengthen communication and mutual understanding between these groups. Its main goal is to develop management strategies aligned with ICCAT’s objectives, using ecosystem-based and precautionary approaches. The group, chaired by a Commission-appointed leader, meets between sessions and includes managers, scientists, and observers from ICCAT members and cooperating entities. Its first meeting focused on defining biological reference points, harvest control rules, and improving ICCAT’s science and management processes.
