This ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together policy document outlines the collective vision of the ten ASEAN Member States for the decade following the establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015. It reaffirms foundational principles—peace, stability, cooperation, and shared prosperity—while acknowledging evolving geopolitical and socio-economic challenges. Through the Kuala Lumpur Declaration, the leaders adopt the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 along with three central blueprints: the Political-Security Community (APSC), the Economic Community (AEC), and the Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC). These instruments aim to deepen integration, strengthen institutions, and ensure ASEAN remains cohesive, rules-based, people-oriented, and people-centred. The Vision and its blueprints set out a roadmap for a secure, prosperous, and inclusive region. The APSC seeks strengthened governance, adherence to international law, peaceful dispute resolution, and enhanced cooperation on security challenges. The AEC aims for an integrated, innovative, and competitive regional economy with seamless movement of goods, services, investment, and skilled labour. The ASCC emphasizes social protection, sustainable development, resilience to disasters and climate change, and the promotion of human rights and cultural identity. Together, these frameworks chart ASEAN’s commitment to narrowing development gaps, enhancing connectivity, and elevating the region’s role in global affairs.
