Conservation and Management Measure for Chub Mackerel (CMM 2024-07).

This Conservation establishes a science-based management framework for chub mackerel in the Convention Area to ensure its long-term sustainability. The measure sets out catch controls and allocation arrangements for Members and Cooperating non-Contracting Parties (CNCPs), based on the best available scientific advice and stock status information, and incorporates precautionary and adaptive management principles. It defines total allowable catch (TAC) levels, distribution of fishing opportunities, and conditions for participation in the fishery, including provisions for new entrants and special considerations where applicable. The CMM also strengthens monitoring, control, and surveillance requirements, mandating timely and accurate reporting of catch and effort data, and use of vessel monitoring systems. The measure provides for periodic review and adjustment in light of updated scientific assessments.
