Monze District is an agriculture-influenced socio-economic environment; therefore, the district endeavours to continue strengthening the agriculture sector by providing an enabling environment. The Monze District Integrated Development Plan 2021-2030 uses a multi-sectoral approach to tackle the problems being faced in the district and to foster development for the local people and the country at large. The goal of this plan is to provide quality and equitable services through the creation of socioeconomic opportunities in a transparent, accountable, and sustainable manner. This will be done through the creation of a market for agricultural produce, value addition to products, job creation, and the provision of essential services for human development. The overall goal of the Plan is to improve service delivery, reduce poverty, and enhance socio-economic development by strengthening infrastructure, human development sectors, and productive economic activities across the district. The sectoral objectives are as follows (i) education: improving access to quality education by expanding infrastructure, increasing staffing, and enhancing learning conditions to raise literacy levels; (ii) water and sanitation: increase access to clean and reliable water for households, agriculture, and livestock, while improving sanitation services; (iii) road infrastructure: improve rural and urban road networks through construction and rehabilitation to enhance connectivity and economic activity; (iv) agriculture, fisheries, and livestock: enhance productivity and livelihoods by improving water availability, extension services, and market access for agricultural products; (v) health: improve access to quality health services and facilities to reduce morbidity and strengthen community health outcomes; (vi) forestry and environment: address environmental degradation through sustainable natural resource management and conservation practices; (vii) tourism: promote tourism development by improving facilities and attracting investment to support local economic growth; (viii) energy and communication: improve access to reliable energy and communication services to support development and service delivery; (ix) commerce, trade, and industry: promote value addition, industrial development, and market creation to reduce poverty and increase employment opportunities.
