This Act applies to all lands and waters in the Northwest Territories other than lands under the administration and control of Her Majesty in right of Canada, and concerns matters in respect of archaeological sites protection. The Act empowers any officer to effect seizure and to report it, in case of violations to the provisions of the Act. The Act provides for punishment in case of offences. The Act covers the following matters: protection, care and preservation of sites, works, objects and specimens of archaeological, ethnological or historical importance, interest or significant and explorers’ cairns and explorers’ documents; issuance of permits.
