This Order establishes rules on a mandatory hygiene course for certain persons who handle live swine in Denmark. The course is a free e-learning course available through the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s website and must be completed by owners and employees in pig herds, transport undertakings, assembly centres and slaughterhouses who professionally handle, transport or receive live pigs. Business owners must ensure that covered persons complete the course within 30 days of starting employment, unless they can document that they have already completed it, with a transitional deadline of 1 March 2026 for persons employed in January 2026. Business owners must also be able to provide documentation of course completion to the control authority on request, and violations may be punished by fines.
