Order No. 1226 on full compensation and indemnification for mink undertakings and full compensation for related businesses of mink undertakings as a result of the temporary prohibition on keeping mink.

This Order regulates the allocation and payment of full compensation and indemnification to mink undertakings, and full compensation to related businesses, following Denmark’s temporary prohibition on keeping mink. It defines eligible mink undertakings and related businesses, including mink farms with or without own production in 2020, businesses renting stable or cage capacity, pelting businesses, the Danish Fur Breeders’ Association and other businesses substantially dependent on Danish mink production. The Order sets detailed rules for compensation for permanent closure, including lost future earnings, unused cage and stable capacity, mink-specific fixed assets, breeding animals, ancillary mink-related activities, live breeding-animal sales, pelting for third parties, and related non-mink activities that cannot reasonably be converted or continued. It also regulates compensation to related businesses, requirements concerning environmental permits, documentation and auditor statements, state acquisition or disposal of compensated assets, access to assets for demolition or removal, maintenance-cost compensation, payment to rights holders, reopening and repayment rules, digital communication, penalties and appeals.
