This Law establishes the State Policy for the Development of the Grape, Wine and Wine Tourism (Enotourism) Production Chain in the State of Rio de Janeiro and creates a programme to support and promote the sector. Its main objective is to strengthen and integrate the entire grape and wine value chain, linking agricultural production, wine-making, scientific research, tourism, gastronomy, culture and regional development. The legislation seeks to position Rio de Janeiro as a national reference in viticulture and wine production by encouraging innovation, fostering cooperation among producers, researchers and public institutions, and promoting sustainable economic growth based on local territorial identities and geographical indications. The law also aims to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector through technical training, technology transfer, climate adaptation measures and the adoption of good agricultural practices. In addition, it promotes the development of wine tourism by supporting wine routes, festivals, cultural events and tourism-related services that connect vineyards, wineries and local communities.
