This Law establishes the State Programme for the Restoration of Native Vegetation (Tocantins Restaura), a state initiative coordinated by the Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources to promote the ecological restoration of native ecosystems in both public and private areas of the State of Tocantins. The law aims to restore degraded native vegetation, enhance biodiversity conservation and protect water resources, while supporting broader environmental sustainability objectives throughout the state. The programme is designed to strengthen ecological connectivity through the creation of ecological corridors, contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and encourage the mobilisation of public and private financial resources for restoration activities. The law prioritises actions in conservation units, rural properties with environmental liabilities and areas identified in the State Native Vegetation Recovery Plan. It also empowers the environmental authorities to identify priority areas, establish restoration projects, and cooperate with public entities, civil society organisations and private stakeholders to implement ecological restoration measures and improve the long-term resilience of natural ecosystems.
